Essences Cuvée is born as a tribute to those mythical artisan wines with outstanding aging potential that were made in our region in the past; unique wines that do not follow trends or change as time passes. Essences no. 2 is born in two small plots planted over 100 years ago. Here, the soils are mainly limestone -which lend power, silky tannins and ripeness- combined with small areas of clay, sand, and gravel -providing elegance and freshness-. These old bush vines are mainly of the Tempranillo variety; however, there are also Albillo Mayor, and Garnacha Tintorera vines planted amongst our region’s noble grape in the same plots, as was customary in the Ribera del Duero. Essences Cuvée no. 2 is a CVC blend of three outstanding vintages, all of them considered “excellent” by the Ribera del Duero DO Regulatory Council: 2015, 2018, and 2019. The wine is made combining the balance and synergies from the different vintages to achieve a new dimension of complexity and harmony.
