连南瑶族自治县地处粤西北，千米高山云雾绵延，山地间盛产耐寒的小黄姜。千百年来，在连南高山栖息的瑶族，生活中长久保留着两样传承：对盘王的敬奉，以及食姜的传统。山间多雾湿冷，姜是瑶族人从饮食中带来暖意的风物；在漫长的迁徙途中，姜茶是随身相伴的寻常饮品；盘王祭祀与节庆宴席上，鲜姜也是席间常见的食材。食姜的习惯在瑶族家庭中代代相传：阿婆教女儿处理鲜姜，长辈向晚辈讲述山地种姜的经验。这种与姜相伴的生活方式，是瑶族民俗记忆的一部分。如今，生活在连南高山的瑶族仍沿用山地古法种植小黄姜。在此基础上，融合现代食品工艺萃取小黄姜粉，搭配红枣、陈皮、枳椇子天然食材，打造承载瑶山风土、适合日常饮用的草本植物饮品。
